So there's been some discussion in the reviews section for the Unisex
Hooded Scarf about who originally brought this style. Lady Gaga? Justin Bobby? Right. All you little kiddies learn a lesson from Uncle Spence: Grace Freaking Jones, bitches.

Juxtaposition
Design, a cute little interior design blog based out of Detroit, MI, has
written a nice article about our 9th Ave. store in the heart of Hell's
Kitchen in NYC.
The 9th Ave. store is our first completely "eco-friendly" location, sporting
recycled tile, locally sourced wood flooring, and even an LED storefront
sign.
The article kind of gave us some heat too though, saying "it took American
Apparel THIS LONG to actually take the plunge and build an eco-friendly
store?"
To which I respond: HEY. We have been working hard to do our part. You
might recall the 146 kW solar electric system that we have on
our roof, supplying 20% of the electricity we use here at the factory.
Overall though, we know that this store has been a long time comin' and
we are excited to have our first "eco-friendly" location.

American Apparel: Label of the Year!

That's right y'all.
Polly Vernon, who writes about fashion and the like for The Observer,
has named American Apparel "the fashion sensation of 2008." Quite the
honor!
Polly had lots of nice things to say about us, but one of my favorite quotes
from the article came from Frank Strachen, a pop stylist and fashion editor
of Attitude
magazine. Frank compared us to cell phones, saying:
"How did we all cope before? Simple jersey pieces in more colours than you
can imagine, with eccentric bits of neon and lamé. In the last year I don't
think I've done one fitting without a piece of American Apparel on the rail.
You see American Apparel all over the pop landscape, from Take That to
the Saturdays."
Now I have no idea who those bands are, but it sure is nice to know we are
loved.

| Electric Youth is a pretty teen heavy gossip and photo smash. The newest issue is all
about European "it" girls and boys and comes with a sheet of cool kid stickers made
to
look like trading cards. If you didn't get an issue yet, it makes the perfect stocking
stuffer for that fashion-centric boy crazy maniac in your life.

The Racked Street
Scenes is a daily chance to vote on the outfit of some random person
photographed on the street. Takuma, snapped on Melrose, had the good sense to
match the purchase in his American Apparel bag to, well, everything. I voted him Perfection.
